Layer Font by Bit Han
Geometrical//mathematical - use of transparency and the angles gives the font a 3D look.
Frontage Type by You Work for Them
I like this type for its sculptural//structural qualities. It does achieve the look of an old fashioned sign and allows for lots of variations & deconstructions. The different layers are all quite simple and the colour palette is also minimal which I think is why it looks so sleek.
Layered Typography by Steven Robertson
"Each piece of type is made out of three layers a negative, a base and a top layer making type into a 3D structure inspired by architectural diagrams. Creating a view of type that would not be normally seen."
Papercutting makes the two dimensional planes into 3D pieces, almost like a relief. The base typeface is simple but is made complex by the different levels and layers. Also handcrafted which is more impressive and sculptural.
Layer Cake Typography by Jakob Nylund
I like this because of it's modernity and abstract qualities. The textures and tones bring it out from the computer screen and gives it a hand-made quality. The angle and slant of the letters allows for the different lines and layers to create a 3D thickness.
